Life in Syntropy

Watch the iconic short video about the work of Ernst Gotsch, Swiss geneticist and founder of synthropic agriculture.

40 years ago, he began reforesting 350 hectares of land in Brazil destroyed by mining and intensive grazing. Without fertilizers, sprays or irrigation systems. The land he bought was called Fugidos da Terra seca (Refuge of Dry Land).

Today it is a place where rainfall, rivers and waterfalls have returned. Where species that the scientific community thought were long extinct have returned. And it’s a place where people come back transformed.

By understanding and supporting the Earth’s self-healing mechanisms, we can build systems of abundance, kick-start soil and water restoration, mitigate climate change and ensure a stable future for generations to come.

This short film was specially produced for presentation at COP 21 and features, among others, one of the most famous promoters of synthetic agriculture, the American quantum physicist Fritjof Capra.
